Best AI marketing tools in India: what to pay for after free

Nexiiom Team··11 min read

Short answer: Most small businesses in India need one paid AI assistant at about ₹399 a month, or nothing if a telecom bundle already covers them. The free year of ChatGPT Go began on 4 November 2025, so the first accounts come off it from 4 November 2026. Decide before that date, use the AI already inside Meta’s ad tools with its defaults checked, and buy no third tool until a named weekly job needs one.

If you claimed ChatGPT Go free last November, a date is coming, and it is better to decide what happens on it than to find out from a bank alert.

This guide stays on what to buy. The rules on labelling, disclosure and customer consent are in AI marketing in India. For adoption numbers, see our AI marketing statistics for India.

We are Nexiiom, an agency that sets these tools up for clients through our AI automation service, so we have an interest.

When does the free year of ChatGPT Go actually end?

MediaNama reported on 30 October 2025 that ChatGPT Go launched in India in August 2025 at ₹399 a month. OpenAI made it free for 12 months from 4 November 2025, for new and existing subscribers.

The end date is personal to the account. Claim on day one and you reach twelve months on 4 November 2026. Claim later and your date is probably later. Your billing screen is the only place that shows it.

The report does not say what happens next, and we have not confirmed with OpenAI whether an account starts being charged automatically. Do not assume either way. Open Settings, then Account, and see whether a payment method is attached and what the next billing date is.

What ₹399 a month buys from OpenAI and from Google

PlanMonthly priceWhat the provider says you getWhat we would check
ChatGPT Go₹399 at launch in August 2025 (MediaNama); OpenAI’s help page prints no rupee priceEverything in Free plus higher limits for images, file uploads and data analysis, longer memory, projects, tasks and custom GPTsThe rupee amount on your billing screen
Google AI Plus₹399400 GB of storage, “2x access” to Gemini compared with people who do not subscribe, family sharing with up to five othersWhat “2x access” counts
Google AI Pro₹1,9505 TB of storage, “4x access”, and Gemini in Docs and SheetsWhether you work in Docs and Sheets enough

Sources: OpenAI’s “What is ChatGPT Go?” help page and Google’s India AI plans page, both read on 4 October 2026, plus the MediaNama report above.

OpenAI’s page says “Free and Go users both have unlimited everyday text chats.” So Go is about higher limits. It also says “We may start testing ads in ChatGPT Go in the future.” Billing is monthly and can be cancelled any time.

The page says “All purchases are in USD - we offer a local currency billing in a limited set of countries”, and that OpenAI “may adjust pricing over time”. The invoice may not be in rupees. The tax treatment is covered in the AI marketing in India guide linked above.

Google’s “2x” and “4x” are its own description, and the page does not say what is counted. These are consumer plans; the page points work accounts to a separate product.

Our opinion: choose the one whose apps your business already lives in. Gmail, Drive and Android point to Google. An existing ChatGPT history and custom GPTs point to OpenAI. We have not tested either.

Is a telecom bundle a plan, or a trial with a long fuse?

Engadget reported on 31 October 2025 that Jio offered its Unlimited 5G customers Google AI Pro at no extra cost for 18 months, valued at about ₹35,100 per user. It went first to customers aged 18 to 25, to be extended to everyone on an eligible plan through the MyJio app. The same report notes that Airtel partnered with Perplexity for a year of Perplexity Pro.

Eighteen months from late October 2025 is around April 2027 for the earliest claims. A long runway, but still a fuse.

We have not checked whether either offer is still open to new claims in October 2026. Look in the MyJio or Airtel Thanks app. If a bundle covers you, use it and pay for nothing else.

The AI you already pay for sits inside Meta Ads Manager

If you run Facebook or Instagram ads, you already have generative AI. Meta’s help page on Advantage+ creative says it is in Meta Ads Manager and Meta Business Suite. The page lists 31 enhancements and labels the ones that use generative AI, including text generation, text improvements, image generation, background generation, translations, video subtitles and add music.

The page lists no separate charge for these features. You pay for the ads. That is what the page says, not a guarantee, so read your invoice. For the ad cost side, see Meta ads cost in India.

Two lines matter. “Some enhancements may be turned on by default, but you can turn them off at any time.” And Meta says the media and text you upload “may be adjusted to help improve ad performance while maintaining the core message of your campaign”.

Which Advantage+ switches to check before your next campaign

Our Facebook and Instagram ads guide for India covers campaign basics. Open one live ad and check:

  • Which enhancements are on. Switch off any you did not choose.
  • Text and translations. They can change your wording.
  • Image and background generation. These can alter how a product looks.
  • The “AI info” label. Meta says ad images created or materially edited with certain generative AI features may carry one.

Meta says certain verticals (financial services, pharma and health, and ads for housing, employment or credit) and certain countries may not have immediate access to all generative AI features. The page does not name India either way.

Two opinions, labelled as ours. A generated or translated line in Gujarati, Tamil or Hindi should be read by a native speaker before it runs. A jeweller or clinic should check that generated backgrounds or touch-ups do not make the product look like something it is not. More in our AI ad creative guide.

Why this guide prints no design tool price

Many “best tools” lists print rupee prices nobody checked. We would rather print none.

On 4 October 2026 we opened Canva’s India pricing page from outside India. It showed prices in our local currency, not rupees. It did say there is a Free plan, “Prices exclude applicable tax”, AI features draw on a shared AI allowance that different tools use at different rates, and a paid “AI Pass” add-on exists for more.

Read the rupee price on your own screen at checkout, and try the Free plan against a real week of posts first.

One assistant or two? Splitting it across a three-person team

Consumer plans are built for one person. Neither page we read describes shared team use of one login, and Google’s “family sharing with up to five others” is family sharing, not a staff feature. We will not say sharing is allowed or banned. Read the terms.

Our recommendation: the person who writes the posts holds the paid plan. Everyone else stays on free tiers until they hit a limit weekly. Two paid assistants only when two people each hit limits.

Pasting customer phone numbers into any consumer plan is processing personal data under the DPDP Act. Our guide to marketing automation in India covers that side.

A hypothetical: a Rajkot imitation jewellery seller in November

This is invented, not a real client. Picture a two-person imitation jewellery seller in Rajkot, selling through Instagram and WhatsApp, heading into the wedding season. Their free Go year, claimed in early November 2025, is about to lapse.

They check the account’s billing page for a payment method and the next billing date. They compare the Google and OpenAI pages. Their custom GPTs are in ChatGPT, so they keep one ₹399 plan there.

They open the existing Meta campaign and read the Advantage+ creative enhancements. They switch off background generation, because the necklaces must look like the necklaces. A Gujarati speaker reads the generated lines before the ads run.

They decide against a design subscription until the free plan fails a real week of posts.

Tools we would leave on the shelf for now

These are our opinions.

  • A second chat assistant “for comparison”. Two doing one job is how bills double.
  • Anything at the ₹1,950 or ₹6,500 tier. Google lists Ultra “From ₹6,500/mo”. Skip it unless Docs and Sheets work or storage justifies it.
  • AI avatar or voice-clone presenters. The rules on synthetic voices and faces are in the same AI marketing in India guide.
  • Any tool bought because it was free for a year.

If nobody has thirty minutes a week to review output, keep money out of tools altogether: a paid plan changes nothing. The expensive mistake is not a ₹399 plan. It is five overlapping subscriptions and nobody reviewing the output.

A ten-minute check before any renewal date

  1. Open each AI account and note the billing date and whether a payment method is attached.
  2. List every AI subscription and who used it last week.
  3. Check the MyJio or Airtel Thanks app for a bundled plan.
  4. Turn training off if you prefer. OpenAI says you can opt out at any time.
  5. Open one live Meta ad and read the Advantage+ creative enhancements.
  6. Pick one assistant.
  7. Set a calendar reminder a week before each renewal.

Frequently asked questions

When does free ChatGPT Go end in India? OpenAI made ChatGPT Go free in India for 12 months from 4 November 2025, so an account that claimed on day one reaches twelve months on 4 November 2026. If you claimed later, your date is probably later, and your billing screen is the only place that shows it. We have not confirmed what happens next, so open Settings, then Account, and read your billing date.

Is Google AI Plus or ChatGPT Go better value at ₹399 a month? On price they match, so choose by the apps you already live in. Google AI Plus adds 400 GB of storage and family sharing with up to five others. ChatGPT Go adds higher limits for image generation, file uploads and data analysis, a longer memory, projects, tasks and custom GPTs. We have not tested which one is better at anything, so do not read a quality verdict into this.

Do I need Google AI Pro at ₹1,950 a month for marketing? Probably not. Google AI Pro costs ₹1,950 a month, nearly five times the ₹399 of AI Plus, and adds 5 TB of storage and Gemini in Docs and Sheets. Google calls it 4x access but does not say what is counted. In our opinion, pay for it only if your team works in Docs and Sheets all week or genuinely needs the storage. Otherwise start at the cheaper tier.

Does my Jio plan already include a paid AI subscription? It may. Jio offered its Unlimited 5G customers Google AI Pro at no extra cost for 18 months, valued at about ₹35,100 per user, first for customers aged 18 to 25, with a planned extension through the MyJio app to everyone on an eligible plan. We have not checked whether the offer is still open to new claims in October 2026, so check the MyJio app before paying for anything.

Is the AI inside Meta Ads Manager free to use? The Meta help page we read lists no separate charge for the generative AI features in Advantage+ creative. You pay for the ads, not the features, though that is what the page says, not a guarantee. Some enhancements may be turned on by default, and you can turn them off at any time. Open one live ad in Ads Manager and read the list before your next campaign.

Does ChatGPT Go use my chats to train its models? OpenAI says it may use conversations to improve model performance and safety, and that you can opt out of having your data used for training at any time. So opting out is your choice to make. Our advice is to decide on purpose, and to keep customer phone numbers and other personal details out of any consumer plan, whichever way you choose.

Where these figures come from

What we could not verify: Canva’s rupee price, whether Go bills automatically after the free year, and whether the telecom offers are still open to new claims.
